Qwen’s official August release history and Qwen3.8-27B model card describe open weights, image and video understanding, adjustable thinking and an Apache 2.0 license. The card describes a managed hosted 27B service as coming soon. Model weights and a managed business service are different things; deployment still needs design and operation.
Where businesses stumble
“Open” can be mistaken for automatically cheaper, private or easy. Running a model introduces responsibility for infrastructure, access, updates, monitoring and the people who support it. A technically possible deployment may not solve an important business problem.
